Iron Banner Weekend

Bada Bing plunged into some Crucible this weekend, and much fun and laughter was had.  Here's a quick view of the weekend's matches:

(Click for big)

Some highlights:
  • We are good at inviting in friends who are really good
  • From the (small) sample size, our best Iron Banner Control map is Rusted Lands (100% wins) and our worst map is Shores of Time (0% wins).  That may not mean a lot, because there aren't that many games to make a truly fair comparison.
  • Twilight Gap was played the most often, 2X more than the next closest map
  • GT and OD had the best in-clan K/D ratios, tied at 1.07
  • Sentinel X had the highest in-clan single game score at 4,615 - which is lower than any of our friends' average scores (our friends are really good)

Clan night tonight. 9pm PT. X1 Destiny.

Void Nexus Nightfall.  No burn on weekly.  Nightfalls will quick off right at 9pm.  Make sure you have a Skype account setup in case we overflow our 8 person party limit.

Clan business items this week:

  • Download #IDARB. It's free with gold for Xbox One this month.  #IDARB is a chaotic 8-player eSport jumping future arena ball game. Create characters, teams, team logos, tournaments, even your theme music, in this highly customizable experience complete with disruptive “hashbombs” which dynamically change the game itself via Twitch and Twitter!
  • Xur is in the tower from Friday 1am until Sunday 1am Pacific Time, every weekend.  Seriously people, it doesn't change.
We are raiding a lot these days.  I am extremely impressed at how capable this clan has gotten, and the team work we have developed.  As a clan, we're in about the top 10% of the world's Destiny player base.  Not bad for a bunch of filthy casuals.  Many thanks to cubert for raid leading, and consistently blazing the trail in finding and developing raid strategies.

That said, Bada Bing will always have an inclusive policy, so I will always try and make activities available for everybody to have fun.  Here's some general thoughts:
  • Have fun.  This is more important to me than anything else.  I ask everybody to participate in game modes that are fun to YOU, and also to excuse yourself if it's not fun anymore.  There is way more stuff to do in this game than anybody has time for, we can always find something else to do.
  • Play to your level.  Character and game mode level is obvious, you should have your character leveled up to the game mode that you're playing.  But also play to your skill level.  Maximizing your guns and armor, carrying plenty of heavy ammo synthesis, going to Tower to get the proper gear - are all things that will make the game most enjoyable for you and your Fireteam.  If you're not prepared for a game mode, be honest and upfront about it, and excuse yourself.  If the Fireteam asks you to join anyway, they know what they are signing up for, and won't be disappointed if they need to help you a bit.
  • Pop your LFG cherry.  Yes, this game is most fun with your friends.  However, getting everybody's schedules to align is hard and limiting.  Get on destinylfg.net and destinylfg.com and find strangers to play with.  Yes, it's a bit like on-line dating.  Yes, there are some bad experiences.  Yes, it can sometimes be disheartening.  But there's more good experiences than bad out there.  And it's a great way to get Nightfalls, Weeklies, Raids - even patrols, bounties and farming done on your own - when the clan isn't around.  Every time you find somebody you had fun with, add them as a friend.  Remember that this entire clan used to be internet strangers.

Interesting highlights:
  • Last month we had 3 32s.  We now have 12.
  • Sentinel X probably has the most hours per day in the last month, but I don't have his numbers from last month.  So Brune wins with a ridiculous 7.1 hours per day for January.
  • Brune also wins with an INSANE 101 hours of total tower time.
  • Beer4Porter has a perplexing 27% of total game time spent in tower.  Especially perplexing when you consider he doesn't know when Xur is in the Tower.  That's a lot of Tower soccer time.
  • OD is by far the most efficient in the Tower, with only 5% of game time spent there.
  • There are 3 players in Bada Bing with more time in Tower than darknorpo has in the entire game.
