Call of Duty: Ghosts

Gameplay from the newest CoD game was shown at a pre-E3 show yesterday, running on next-gen (X1/PS4) hardware.  It looks gorgeous.  Scuba diving and a dog in the squad.

The Next Clan Game

OK, so Duke Nukem was a huge bust, I will admit when I've led us astray.  Let's fix it and get back to our clan roots.  Here are some of the games coming out this Fall, which one excites you the most?

Gears of War 3: [September 20] Gears of War 3 is the conclusion to the Gears of War saga.

Gears of War 3 is a third-person action shooter that plunges you into a harrowing tale of hope, survival, and brotherhood. The third and final installment in the Gears of War series features a four-player cooperative campaign; new playable characters; and hideous, mutating enemies.

Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3: [November 8] Picking up immediately after its 2009 predecessor, Modern Warfare 3 will tell the story of US Delta Force operatives and British SAS forces teaming up against the Russian ultranationalists who have made the critical mistake of invading their home turf. Indeed, battles will be waged in both New York and London--among other locales--as you seek to deal with the Russian threat using a little tactic called "any gun you can get your hands on."  Will have campaign, survival mode and multiplayer. 

Halo - Combat Evolved Anniversary: [November 15] Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is a spectacularly remastered version of the original "Halo" campaign, created in celebration of the 10th anniversary of one of the most beloved franchises in gaming history. With a bounty of new features including cooperative play over Xbox LIVE, a bundle of some of the most beloved multiplayer maps in "Halo" history reimagined for Xbox LIVE, new challenges and a new story to uncover, Halo: Anniversary is a must-have experience.

 

I've posted a new poll to go out and vote.  I'll leave it open for a while, unless there's an overwhelming vote for Gears in the next two weeks. If I've missed a game that you'd to see listed for consideration, please let me know.

 

XBL Activity

DLC really drives Xbox Live activity. The Mythic Map pack DLC pushed Halo 3 back on top of the lists, above the two Call of Duty games. And the Survival pack DLC bumped Left 4 Dead all the way up into the #5 spot last week. Halo Wars clings to the top 10 in the #10 spot.

Clan Games

Halo is starting to feel a little tired, so I'm starting to look for a new clan game. These are the requirements for a clan game:

• On the Xbox 360 and supports Xbox Live multiplayer
• Has buy-in from myself, BeerMonkeee and OmniscientDeath (want to be on this list? show up more)
• Ideally supports at least 4-player or greater teams or co-op
• Fun enough to play for at least a year

Games vetoed for clan play:

• Rock Band 2 - No interest.
• Call of Duty: World at War - Game mechanics not "fun" enough. Too hard to differentiate friend or foe. Learning curve too steep for multiplayer.
• Fable II - Only 2 player co-op. Wonky camera makes combat impossible.
• Civilization Revolution - Games take way too long.
• Gears of War 2 - No critical mass amongst clan
  
• Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - No critical mass amongst clan
• Splinter Cell: Conviction - No critical mass amongst clan
• F.E.A.R. 2 - No critical mass amongst clan
• Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. - Fun factor too low

• Street Fighter 4
  
• Halo Wars (3/3/09)

Clan night tonight starting at 8pm

• 8pm-10pm: Trial week for Call of Duty: World at War. Blockbuster was out of Left 4 Dead, but has tons of copies of CoD WaW, so that's what we're going with this week. Go rent a copy and log on to try it out. If you've never played it before, please log on early to familiarize yourself with the game so you don't waste everyone else's time.
• 10pm-midnight: Halo 3 as per usual.
